A Time for Reflection

When I first arrived in Georgia, I was just happy to be stationed in a place that allowed me to take trips, to visit places without spending huge amounts of money. They say that each place you go to turns out to be what you make of it. If you plan to work, sleep and eat your way through the experience, then you aren't likely to enjoy it much. For the first year I was here, I was engaged, but my husband to be was still stationed in Hawaii and I didn't get to spend a lot of time with him. So I filled the quiet and loneliness with friends I had made here and a routine that kept the silence at bay. In September of 2004 Chris and I were married, but he still had to return to Hawaii for another 6 months, this allowed my routine to remain pretty much the same. When he finally left the Air Force and joined me here, I stopped hanging out with my friends as much in order to make up for lost time with Chris. We both enjoy the outdoors as well as such indoor activities as MMORPG's but I was finding that we were spending more and more time inside on beautiful days rather than making the effort to go find something new outside. Sooo... the routine settled in. I worked an odd schedule and when I was off I spent time with Chris inside. Well, finally this got old, so I started hooking up with friends to do things outside again. I can tell you that my mood, frame of mind and health definately improved after that. It gave me something to plan for, and with the long weekends my schedule allows I am able to get out more and do things that I have never tried before. Thats one thing I love, learning new activities and exploring new ideas, so hopefully this trend will continue and I will become better aquainted with the surrounding area. Then I can truely say that this place has been what I have made it.
